The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking entry level and lateral entry candidates for Deputy Sheriff. Lateral experience is recognized up to 5 years of comparable law enforcement experience.

Under general supervision, this position serves the public through the preservation of peace, prevention of crime and disorder, protection of life and property, arrest of violators and the enforcement of court orders and criminal laws of the State of Kansas and the Home Rule Resolutions of the County of Shawnee. Specifically, this position performs duties of a law enforcement officer such as, but not limited to, traffic enforcement, preventative patrol, traffic accident investigation, community policing, serving criminal arrest warrants, serving civil process and investigating criminal activity. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements: Must be a United States Citizen. Must have high school diploma or equivalent achievement. Must be at least 21 years of age by date of hire. Free from any convictions, diversions, or expungements of felony crimes. Must possess a valid driver's license. If not already certified, must be able to obtain certification through the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.

Base pay for entry level Deputy Positions start at $24.32/hour. Lateral entries range from $24.32 - $26.34 based on comparable previous experience.
